Let’s face it, it’s really hard to find and commit to great art pieces for condos and other spaces. Luckily, we stumbled upon local artist Sandra Di Leo whose pieces are perfect for your home. We met up with Sandra recently at her Toronto studio to scope out her work.

Who is Sandra Di Leo?

Sandra Di Leo is a talented French-Canadian artist who started painting at the tender age of four. Born and raised in a small town in Northern Ontario, she moved to Toronto to study graphic design at George Brown. She pursued a career in graphic design for the last 13 years and then decided it was time to pursue her true passion and follow her dreams of painting. She is an abstract expressionist artist using her own experiences to create her work . In her accent pieces in particular, she uses colour psychology to convey emotions and elements from her memories, bringing them to life on a canvas.

Accent pieces are perfect for condos

Many condominiums are painted white and it’s all the rage, but people are always wondering how to add personality without painting the entire room. According to Sandra, accent pieces are a great choice! They will brighten up your room and add a great splash of colour. A lot of people worry about paintings crowding a small space, but the right size and the right colours can do wonders.

This painting is perfect for a dining room or above the headboard in your bedroom.

‘Winds of Change’

Sandra also spoke to us about her most recent project, a collaboration with sculptor Robert Wehkamp, called “Winds of Change” – a gorgeous sculpture representing changes and new experiences.  The colours reflect positive change – yellow depicts optimism, orange confidence and enthusiasm, pink symbolizes hope and teal conveys emotional balance.

The sculpture has since sold, but when we went to pay Sandra a visit we saw another one in the works!

Check out more of Sandra’s work on her website, or this Friday, May 31 at “he ART this!” a fundraiser for inner-city ARTs at the Walnut Contemporary Gallery located at 201 Niagara Street, Toronto.
